Coconut oil instead of other fats

Eat coconut oil instead of olive, rapeseed, sunflower oil and butter for a month and you’ll feel great. To understand why you should replace all kinds of fat (that you use in home cooking) to coconut oil we need to analyze the details.

The fatty acids in coconut oil are 90% saturated and consists almost entirely of Medium Chain Triglycerides (7). These fatty acids go straight to the liver, where they get turned into ketone bodies and provide a quick source of energy. The main fatty acid is the 12-carbon Lauric Acid, which is broken down into a compound called monolaurin. Lauric acid and monolaurin can kill bacteria, fungi and viruses. For this reason it can be protective against various infections (9, 10, 11).

In a study of 40 women with abdominal obesity, coconut oil reduced waist line compared to soybean oil (14). Most of the weight lost comes from fat which indicates that it may be muscle sparing (19). Medium chain triglycerides increase energy consumption compared to long chain fats (16) and lead to greater satiety (17, 18).

The main fatty acid is an efficient killer of diseases. The oil improves blood lipids and it can increase energy expenditure, improve satiety and help you lose weight. Buy some ecological unrefined extra virgin coconut oil and notice how your health improves.
